U bolts, as the name suggests, are U-shaped and are available with either a square or round bend. What are some other common uses for U bolts? 

While U bolts are mainly used for attaching pipes, they also can be used for DIY outdoor projects like securing a sound system or in lumber applications. 

When do I use a round bend vs a square bend U bolt? 

Square bend U bolts are typically used for securing objects to flat or rectangular surfaces, whereas round bend U bolts are more generally used for attaching pipes to surfaces.

How do I measure a U bolt? 

U bolts are measured by length (end of the U bolt’s legs to the bolt inside the bottom of the U) and width (distance from one leg of the bolt to the other leg).

What’s the difference between a stainless steel vs. galvanized. vs zinc U bolts? 

The main difference between the three is corrosion resistance. Hot dipped galvanized u bolts have mild resistance to corrosion, making them ideal for indoor environments. Zinc u bolts are the next step up, and then stainless steel u bolts are the most resistant to corrosion, making them perfect for severe environments. 

Which sizes and materials do you carry? 

While we specialize in custom u bolts, we do have several popular sizes and materials. Our u bolt diameters are from 3/8-16” up to 1-8”, and we carry lengths up to 40”. In terms of materials, plain, zinc, hot dipped galvanized, Xylan, 303 or 316 stainless steel u bolts are our most popular materials.
