Description


A thin, flat, circular metal part with a centrally located hole. USS washers are similar to SAE washers, but with inner and outer diameters slightly larger.

 

Applications/
Advantages


Washers are intended to be mounted around a bolt or screw, between the fastener's bearing surface and
the portion it is connected to. Flat washers are used to enhance the distribution of stress and to span big 
clearance holes. USS washers are intended to meet the needs  of the majority of industrial builds such as 
production, servicing and repair.

Plain washers are to be punched from hot-rolled, hot-rolled and pickled, cold-rolled steel or machined from bar stock, tubing or forged at the option of the manufacturer.

 316 or 18-8 Stainless Steel.

Usually stainless USS flat washers are plain or furnished with a black oxide finish.
