Hard Hats
A hard hat is a type of head protection used in many industries to protect workers from injuries cause by falling debris, electrical shock and other hazards. They are commonly made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE), thermoplastic or injection-molded fiberglass to meet ANSI standards. Designed with a 4-point, 6-point or 8-point suspension system that directs the impact through the body to the feet, reducing injury to the head, neck and spine.

Types of Hard Hats
- Type I offer protection to the top of the head
- Type II offer protection to the top and sides of the head
Hard Hat Classes
- Class G (General) hard hats are rated for 2,200 volts
- Class E (Electrical) hard hats are rated for 20,000 volts
- Class C (Conductive) hard hats do not offer electrical shock protection
Hard Hat Color Meaning
- White: For engineers, supervisors, managers & foreman
- Red: For fire fighters
- Blue: For electricians, carpenters and other technical operators
- Yellow: For laborers, heavy duty operators and construction tasks
- Brown: For welders and workers with high heat applications
- Green: For safety officers
- Grey: For site visitors
- Pink: In some industries it is used as an additional helmet
